Wiley Albright was one of several Jackson County boys who earned their wings at the Newport Airfield. From 1942 to 1946, Wiley was a fighter pilot in the Pacific, flying off the carrier Antietam. His father owned a construction business in Newport, and after the war Wiley spent the rest of his life in Newport, serving proudly for many years as the chairman of the airport commission.
