Snetzer’s Grocery Store in Newport was one of the finest in town, providing all manner of “fancy groceries” as well as the usual stock.  Bert Snetzer’s store on Front Street was a constant in Newport’s economy for 51 years.  Bert is on the left in this photograph, and his nephew Charles is on the right, with two unidentified helpers in the background.  Dried apple rings in the foreground tempted shoppers as they walk through the door.
